Residential Recycling

Vallejo Garbage Service - Blue Recycling Cart Each customer receives one blue 96-gallon recycling cart, and one brown 96-gallon yard waste cart. Both are collected weekly on your regular service day. Carts are provided to American Canyon Recycling & Disposal customers free of charge.

In addition to curbside recycling service, the public may bring magazines, office paper, newspaper and cardboard to our drop-off center at Vallejo Garbage Service and American Canyon Recycling & Disposal, Inc. located at 2021 Broadway, in Vallejo. Residential customers may also bring used motor-oil to our facility. Quantities are limited, so please contact us for more information before you come. The drop-off center is open Thursday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Please do not put hazardous waste material into your recycling cart. Contact the Napa-Vallejo Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at (800) 984-9661. The facility is located at 889A Devlin Rd., American Canyon.

Recycling - Blue Cart
All recyclables can be placed in the blue recycling cart, including glass, plastic, metal and paper. Not sure what goes into the blue recycling cart? Follow the guidelines below.



Glass

Vallejo Garbage Service, Inc. - Glass, Metal and PlasticRecycle glass food and beverage containers in all colors. Please empty and rinse all food and beverage containers and remove the caps and lids from the containers before placing them into the blue recycling cart. Place caps and lids in the cart separately.

Examples of acceptable glass containers include:
  • Juice bottles
  • Mayonnaise jars
  • Spaghetti sauce jars
  • Beverage bottles
We cannot take:
  • Drinking glasses
  • Ceramics
  • Window glass or mirrors
  • Light bulbs or fluorescent tubes

Plastic

Narrow-neck plastic containers marked - and margarine, butter and yogurt-type tubs. All California Redemption Value (CRV) containers. All colors. Please empty and rinse all food and beverage containers and remove the caps and lids from the containers before placing them into the blue recycling cart. Place caps and lids in the cart separately.

Examples of acceptable plastic containers include:
  • Milk and orange juice jugs
  • Water bottles
  • Detergent and shampoo containers
  • Yogurt, margarine and butter tubs
We cannot take:
  • Plastic toys, trays, cups, garden hoses, etc.
  • Plastic bags or Styrofoam
  • PVC or other piping

Metal:

Rinsed food and beverage cans (aluminum, steel, and tin). Clean aluminum pans or foil. Empty aerosol cans. Loose lids from jars.

We cannot take:
  • Electronic or computer equipment
  • Hangers
  • Scrap metal
  • Fuel tanks - propane tanks, etc.

Paper

Newspaper, boxes, bags, cardboard (flattened), magazines, catalogs, glossy paper, phone books, softcover books, shredded paper in clear bags, rinsed milk cartons, rinsed juice cartons, junk mail, envelopes, all colors of office paper.

We cannot take:
  • Hardcover books or binders
  • Soiled papers, food wrappings, napkins, tissues or towels

Curbside Used Motor Oil

American Canyon Recycling & Disposal, Inc. - Recycle Oil! Recycle oil at your curbside. Contact us to receive a free oil jug.

Place the oil jug next to your garbage container on collection day. Up to two gallons of used oil may be recycled every week. A new oil jug and will be left at the curb for your next oil change.
